Zoilo Méndez — Co-Founder & Managing
Director
Zoilo started his venture
capital investment career in 1992 when he joined the Venture
Capital Division of the Economic Development Bank for Puerto
Rico ("EDB"). In 1995, after helping modernize EDB's
venture capital investment activities and increase its
portfolio, he joined Venture Management, Inc., the fund
manager of Venture Capital Fund, Inc., Puerto Rico's
first private venture capital fund. In 1997, while at
Venture Management, Zoilo co-founded Advent-Morro Equity
Partners, Inc., a joint venture with Boston based Advent
International Corporation, and participated in raising
Guayacán Private Equity Fund, L.P., Puerto Rico's
largest private equity fund with $41.95 million in committed
capital. At Advent-Morro, he held the positions of Vice
President, Investment Officer and Chief Financial Officer.
Zoilo has served as a member
of the Board of Directors of a number of portfolio companies
including Medical Card System, Inc., one of Puerto Rico's
largest insurance companies. He also has five years of
management consulting experience in the areas of financial
and operations management with KPMG's San Juan office.
Zoilo has B.S. and M.S. degrees in Industrial and Management
Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New
York.
Zoilo is a former member of
the Board of Directors of Puerto Rico Venture Forum, a
nonprofit organization dedicated to the development of
entrepreneurship and venture capital in Puerto Rico.
